Australia is filled with notoriously laid-back folks, so it should come as no surprise that the country has some great spas. And it’s in Sydney where one will find the crème de la crème of pampering locations. So without further ado, here’s our selection of the very best day spas in Sydney.

The Spa at Park Hyatt Sydney

Hotel locations in Sydney don’t get much better than the iconic Rocks. And that’s just where you’ll find the five-star Park Hyatt Sydney’s urban retreat, The Spa.

The Hyatt brand is renowned for excellence, and there’s no exception at The Spa, Sydney. Upon entering the hotel building, the concierge immediately escorts guests to the lift, presses the button for them and wishes them a great spa treatment.

The Spa is famed for its treatments that incorporate organic local ingredients. For a truly decadent experience with an Aussie touch, try the Australian White Flannel treatment. A full-body degustation experience, this two-hour head-to-toe ritual incorporates a coconut and jasmine rice full-body exfoliation, facial, body soufflé and foot massage. The Spa also offers specialized facials, massages and much more.

There are 5 treatment rooms in total – each with its own private shower – as well as a guest relaxation zone. For a truly luxurious day, end your treatment in style with the Park Hyatt Sydney’s champagne afternoon tea in the hotel’s lounge, The Living Room (available weekdays for $150 AUD).

Oh yeah, did we mention there's a rooftop pool? Well, there's a rooftop pool.

Pañpuri Organic Spa

Black and gold tiles line the interior of this Thai-inspired luxury spa in Pyrmont. Pañpuri Organic Spa’s treatments hail from a number of Asian destinations – there’s the Traditional Thai massage, Indonesian Balinese massage, Chinese Tui Na massage and Philippine Hilot massage. But that’s not all this spa does, they also have a range of organic retail products made from all-natural ingredients, such as their antioxidant concentrate that contains the essence of no less than 5,000 jasmine flowers!

After making one’s way through the reception, the oh-so-polite therapist will take guests into the waiting room to fill out the consultation form to the sounds of relaxing music and the tastes of peppermint tea. Then it’s time for the treatment. Even the most seasoned spa-goer will be taken aback walking through the heavy carved wooden doors that lead to the treatment rooms. The gold and black theme continues throughout – even the bowls to wash the feet of guests are gold – but inside the treatment rooms the lighting is dimmed, supplemented by atmospheric candles and scented burners.

The Mali Moonlight Massage is Pañpuri Organic Spa’s signature treatment. Incorporating Thai Massage, Reiki and Aromatherapy, it’s a therapy for both body and soul. Gentle and relaxing, it leaves visitors de-stressed and refreshed. Other treatments include facials and body wraps.

The dimly lit treatment rooms at the Pañpuri Oranic Spa are perfect for relaxation and pampering.

CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La

To be awarded the prestigious “Best Spa in Australasia and the South Pacific” award by Condé Nast Traveller magazine is no mean feat, but after having a treatment at CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, it’s easy to see how they managed to nab the coveted title.

Treatments at CHI, The Spa take a holistic approach and include elements like body massage, exercise, stretching, hydrotherapy and meditation. The Sense of Place therapies incorporate Australian ingredients sourced from local communities that use traditional farming and processing methods. One such treat is the Australian Botanical Retreat, which is a two-and-a-half-hour experience. The Australian Botanical Retreat begins with a relaxing 15-minute soak in a giant marble bathtub, before moving on to an invigorating body scrub using lemon myrtle and eucalyptus polish followed by a bush honey and macadamia body wrap. The last step is an uplifting botanical massage, tailored to personal requirements, which uses natural Australian essential oils to smoothen and soften the skin.

Both the décor and treatments in CHI, The Spa are Asian-inspired. Three of the treatment suites not only overlook the Sydney Harbour Bridge, but also feature infinity edge spa bathtubs for those who like to chill out with a view.

As would be expected from the Shangri-La brand, CHI, the Spa uses only the finest ingredients in its treatments.

Fleur de Lys Medispa

If you’re looking for something different to the average spa treatment then this Moroccan-themed medispa could be the perfect place. Located in swanky Woollahra, Fleur de Lys Medispa incorporates exotic lotions and potions along with quirky treatment methods in a tribute to ancient Moroccan traditions.

Fleur de Lys Medispa is the first in Sydney to offer the authentic Moroccan Hammam experience. Rare oils, soft light and atmospheric Moroccan décor make for a pretty special treatment. First, hop onto the heated Hammam table where guests are covered in traditional black soap and given a thorough scrubbing. Then they are washed down with buckets of warm water before a soothing clay mask mixed with rosewater is applied. Lastly, the treatment finishes with nourishing Argan essential oils, leaving visitors scrubbed, soothed and super soft.

Other treatments at Fleur de Lys Medispa include facials, massages and body scrubs incorporating ingredients like Argan shells, rice powder, beeswax and sweet almond oil. For an extra special treatment, opt for the Gold Facial, which sees lucky faces slathered in pure 24-carat gold.
